The
Riverdale Community Resource Center provides referrals and information to
residents who call for help with emergency situations. The Resource Center
staff works closely with the local school system staff, social service agencies,
police, library, and park districts to provide information and help for easy
access to available services for residents of Riverdale.
The Community Resource Center is also the home of the Riverdale Housing Department. This Department provides mediation between landlords and tenants. Information regarding landlord/tenant rights can also be obtained via the housing department. All complaints regarding unlivable housing conditions by tenants should be reported by calling 708/841-7054.
The
Community Resource Center is home to several programs and classes designed
specifically for the needs of Riverdale residents. Programs vary from job
readiness to family counseling. The Community Resource Center also hosts regular
job fairs and health and wellness awareness programs and seminars throughout
the year. Local community organizations looking for a regular homes are encouraged
to contact the Resource Center to inquire about available meeting space. Those
interested in volunteering their time to teach a course are also welcomed
to contact the center.
Small
businesses, non-profits, and other local agencies are invited to consider
center facilities to set up local or satellite offices close to home. The
center provides the latest technological facilities and spacious, comfortable
work-areas. Business-owners can stay connected to consumers, clients, and
associates via audio conferences, live-interactive video conferences, downstream
video, upstream audio meetings, and high-speed meetings online. For more information

Citizen
Concern Meetings
General community assistance and problem solving meetings can be scheduled
at the CRC when a number of residents wish to come together to plan for the
improvement of their neighborhoods with speakers and professional resource
assistance.
Computer
Lab
Desktop and laptop computers are available to the public during normal Resource
Center hours. Computer usage is subject to availability and class schedules.
Laptops are available only to Riverdale residents 18 years of age or older.
Emergency
Assistance Information
Referral information and assistance is provided to residents who need help
with domestic violence, utility bill payments, housing, food and shelter,
and crisis intervention and prevention.
GED
Classes provided by South Suburban College
GED Classes provided by South Suburban College help to develop the skills
required to pass the General Educational Development tests. Adults who have
not finished high school may take advantage of this program. Classes meet
Monday - Thursday from 9:00 am - 12:00 pm. You must register at the beginning
of each session to participate.
Job
Postings
Riverdale residents looking for work may browse job postings available during
normal Resource Center hours. Local business are encouraged to drop off information
on any available job openings they may have. In addition, residents who come
across postings at their place of employment are also encouraged to add to
our list of leads. If you would like to email job postings, please send them

Resume
Development Services
Residents needing help with writing and formatting their resume may come to
the Resource Center for assistance. One-on-one sessions are available via
appointment only by calling 708/841-2006.
Riverdale
Juvenile Justice Program
Youth sentence to Community Service via the Riverdale Juvenile Court must
complete their hours in accordance with the Riverdale Juvenile Justice Program
at the Resource Center. Requirements of completion range from manual labor
throughout the community and small group therapy. For more information or

Senior
Social Club
Every Friday from 10:30 am - 12:00 pm, the Resource Center hosts Riverdale's
seniors, age 55 and older. Activities include bingo, card parties, and computer
classes. Call 708/841-7054 for more information.
Teens
Acting in Community Presents: The Breaking the Cycle Club
Are
you between the ages of 10 and 15? Are you interested in writing everything
from poetry to raps to short stories? If so, then the new program called:
TEENS ACTING IN COMMUNITY is for you!
TEENS ACTING IN COMMUNITY—Empowers young people to understand their lives and improve their communities with a nine week creative writing course where youth will get to:
- Meet kids their own age with the same interests,
- Participate in open discussion groups,
- Create and participate in an open mic reading,
- Create & publish their own book,
- Play word games and enjoy Fun Friday!
- Learn different forms of Creative Writing such as Dream stories, Monster stories, etc.

Youth Advisory Board of Riverdale
The Youth Advisory Board (YAB) is a group made up of young residents between
the ages of 14 and 21. YAB's mission is to ensure that the voices of youth
in Riverdale are heard by local government.
