Elected Officials
Mayor, Clerk, and Trustees are elected at large in the odd numbered years. Each serves for four years with the Mayor, Clerk and three Trustees elected in one election cycle and three Trustees in the next cycle. Zenovia G. Evans, Mayor 2000-
Mayor “Zee” has been a leader in our Village for many years. She was
elected as Mayor in 2001 after having served six months as acting Mayor. Mayor
Evans was previously a Village Trustee, and was first elected to the Board of
Trustees in 1993 and has chaired the Fire, Police, and Finance Committees. She
has served on the Patton School PTA, Pacesetter Neighborhood Council and is a
member of Queen of Apostles Church and has served on their School Board. She holds
a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science from Chicago State University, and is
employed as the Office Manager for Dr. Knowles, DDS, and Associates. Mayor
Evans serves the South Suburban Mayors and Managers Association as their
President(2005-06).
Joyce E. Forbes, MMC, Village Clerk 1995- Joyce has been involved in community and governmental affairs since 1983. She has served as School Board member for School District 148,(1983-1992) including two years as School Board President, Village of Riverdale Trustee (1992-95) and was appointed Village Clerk in 1995, re-elected in 1997, 2001, and 2005. She attained the prestigious designation of Master Municipal Clerk in 2005. A lifelong area resident, Joyce has a passion for Riverdale and is a proponent of economic growth and community involvement. Cheryl A. Foy, Trustee 1997- Cheryl serves as the senior trustee, she was first elected to the Village Board in 1997, Cheryl was re-elected in 2001 and has chaired the Public Works committee and serves on the Community & Economic Development Committee. She has been the Administrator for the Riverdale Park District for over 10 years, coaches girls volleyball, basketball and softball at Thornridge High School. Cheryl is a lifelong resident of Riverdale, has served on Patton School District 133 School Board, and has been a business owner/manager in Riverdale. She is a strong proponent of commercial growth in the village. Trustee Foy serves as the Chairperson of the Police Committee. Deyon L. Dean, Trustee 1997- Deyon was first appointed to the Village Board in May, 1997, has served on the Youth Commission, and currently serves as Chair of the Community Affairs Committee. Deyon has been active in community development issues with the village. Louis Peyton, Trustee 1999- Lou was elected to the Village Board in 1999, and is the Chairperson of the Fire and Zoning Committee. He is well versed in boardsmanship, as he has served as President of the Patton School District #133 School Board. Lou is a leader in the Pacesetter Neighborhood Council, and is well respected throughout the community for his thoughtful perspective on issues of quality of life for all residents. Jerome Russell, Trustee 2004- Jerome was appointed to the board and re-elected in 2005. As a Civil Engineer, he brings supervisory and technical experience to the board. Jerome has served on the Special Events Committee and is a Scout Leader for his son's Cub Scout Troop. He is the Chairperson for Ordinance Review/Acct. Rec./Finance Committee. Deborah Smiley, Trustee 2007- Deborah has been a community activist for a number of years before being elected in 2007. She brings a wealth of experience to the board regarding landlord/tenant relationships. She is serving as Chair of the Public Works Committee. Dennis Sanders, Trustee 2005- Dennis was elected in 2005 and serves as the Chairperson of the Economic Development Committee. He is committed to bringing the best programs and services to all residents.
